If you’ve arrived at this portion of the guide, you’ve just finished the tutorial. This part of the guide isn’t ‘required’, but I highly recommend you do the first two tips outlined here. Keep in mind though, you should constantly be link building, at least until you get your website to the first page of Google, ideally within the top 3 search results. So long as you work on getting a few new links to your website each day, you should rank in Google  in no time, but that doesn’t mean you should expect immediate results. It could easily take a few weeks to even start appearing on the search engines, so if your site hasn’t shown up on Google yet, don’t worry! Just keep on building links and you’ll start dominating the search engines soon enough =).

Curious how many people are arriving at your site each day? Where they’re coming from? How long they’re staying? Which pages they’re going to? Well, even if you’re not that curious, this is really a must do. Installing Analytics on your site will allow you track how you’re doing on the search engines, as it’ll tell you exactly what people searched on Google to land on your website. Anyway, you can play with it on your own once you get it installed. First you need to setup your Analytics account HERE. If you have a Gmail account, you can use that to login to Analytics. Once you log in, just setup your account by putting in your sites URL / Account Name (Put your sites name here) / Country / Timezone. Afterwards click ‘next’ a couple of times until Google Analytics gives you a big piece of code and save that page for now. In a new browser or window, go back to your Wordpress Admin page and head over to the Plugins section, click add new, then search ‘Google Analyticator’ and install it.  Afterwards, go to the plugin’s settings page over at Settings -> Google Analytics. On that page, change the ‘Google Analytics logging is:’ to ‘Enabled’ then retrieve your ‘Your Google Analytics’ UID:’ from that big piece of Code Google Analytics gave us that I told you to keep open in another window. The code looks like:

GA CodeI highlighted the code in the picture above. The Google Analytics’ UID that I would use is UA-8286043-1. After you type that in, just scroll all the way down and click save (You’ll never have to go back to this page again after you click save). Don’t play with any of the other settings. Now head back to the screen where you recieved the Google Analytics code and click ‘continue’. From now on you should be able to view statistics about your site from that page. Bookmark the Google Analytics site so you don’t forget it. Keep in mind though, Google Analytics only updates ONCE a day and at Midnight, so you won’t be able to see ‘todays’ numbers until tomorrow.
