Now that you know the importance of Link Building and getting links to point to your site, the obvious question we need to answer at this point is ‘How do I get websites link to my website?’. Well I wish I could say it was simple, but it’s not. It’s going to require some time, as you’re going to need to do a lot of work during this portion of the guide. Remember, EVERY LINK Counts, so try and do as many of the techniques listed below as possible!

1. Social bookmark Submissions

Probably the easiest way to start off your link building journey is to grab some quick and easy links from Social bookmarking websites like Digg.com and Propeller.com. Just register for them real quick and then submit your site to them with the site’s title / name as the desired keyword you’re trying to rank on Google for. Registering and submitting your link to these sites shouldn’t take a lot of time and are well worth the effort. Also, when you register to one of these sites, if they ever ask for your URL or HOMEPAGE make sure to put in your site’s URL, because odds are it’ll be shown in your profile page. Remember, every link counts! There are easily 50 other sites out there that work just like Digg and Propeller.com so if you have some time on your hands, submit to a bunch of them!  A larger list of social bookmarking sites can be found HERE If you don’t want to grind through submitting your site to all of these places, I strongly recommend you submit to at least these sites: Digg.com / Reddit.com /Delicious.com / Propeller.com

2. Directory Submissions

Submitting to internet directories are incredibly boring, but it’s something that you just have to do. Directories are basically huge collections of links on the internet where anyone can hop on there and add their links. These links aren’t exactly very powerful considering anyone can just add their links to these sites, but they still help and are well worth the time investment. There are literally hundreds of thousands of these sites though, so don’t over whelm your self and try to submit only to the best ones. (The ones with the highest page Rank). NEVER pay for them though and never submit to the ones that require ‘reciprocal links’. (Reciprocal links are link exchanges, where you have to place THEIR link on your site for them to place yours on theirs. This is NOT worth it with directories, so never submit to directories that require reciprocal exchanges). You can find a large list of free directories HERE, Save time and submit only to the best ones!

3. Article Submissions <! Important !>

Article Submissions are a great way to build relevant links to your site. Article Submissions are basically writing up articles and submitting them to free blogs that you create on the net! Heres how it works, first you write up an article that’s at least somewhat related to your site and then make you’re going to post this article on a free blogging website like Blogger.com. While posting the article on Blogger.com your’e going to MAKE some of the words in the article LINK BACK to your website! Basically, instead of getting other websites to link to us, what we’re doing is creating a simple free blog (which is also a website) and putting articles in it that LINK back to our website. It’s an EXCELLENT way to build RELEVANT links! The links are relevant because the article we wrote for blog has to do with what our main website is about, so any link from that article will certainly help our search engine rankings! The beauty of this method is that you can have 3-4 links in each article, which gives us even more links! But heres the catch, in any one article, don’t make the same ‘word’ link back to your site more than once, because it won’t do you any good. For example, take a look at the free blog I made for earl-grey-tea.org on Blogspot HERE. Notice how the words ”Earl Grey Tea’ , ‘Organic Earl Grey’, ‘Earl Grey Green Tea’, ‘History of Earl Grey Tea’ all link to the main site http://earl-grey-tea.org ? That’s 4 links right there, and all 4 links are ‘relevant’ because they’re from a site (a blog that we made) about earl grey tea! Now lets say you make 8 blogs and submit your one article to all of them, now you have 1 article which ahs 4 (links) x 7 (blogs) = 28 total links pointing to your site! If you write 5 more articles and submit those to all the blogs you just made thats an additional 140 links to your site!

Here’s a small list of similar sites (Do the same thing! Register and post the SAME article(s) you wrote on these sites to!):

Spaces.live.com , Blog.com , InsaneJournal.com , Blogetery.com , Wordpress.com , 360.yahoo.com , blogspot.com, Vox.com , Xanga.com

4. Link Exchanges

Link exchanges are exactly what they sound like, an exchange of links. You place someones link on your site and they place yours on their site. The best way to find people to trade links with is through Webmaster forums. Never have more than 8 Link exchanges going on at once, as having too many of them can be seen negatively by search engines. When you find someone that wants to trade links with you, you can quickly add their link to your site by heading over to your wordpress admin page -> and click ‘Links’ from the left hand side. Any link you add there will show up on the bottom right of your website.
