Once your content is published it will be displayed as plain text but that’s not very exciting, is it? Here we’ll show you how to add pictures and videos to your pages.

Adding Pictures:

First, click where in your post you wish to enter a picture and make sure there is enough room to accommodate it. If necessary, hit ‘enter’ to push text down by one line. When ready, click the small picture icon above the kitchen sink.

A new menu with three tabs should now appear. The three tabs are: From Computer, From URL, Media Library. The tab we will be using is ‘From URL.’

Hopefully you already have the pictures you want to use on your computer, if not go find and save them to your computer. In order to insert pictures, you’ll need to upload them to either your own site or to a photo storage service like Photobucket or Flickr. In order to upload the pictures to your own site, you’ll need to use an FTP client such as FileZilla.

Drag the picture files into the appropriate images directory than get the URL by visiting the page and fill it in. I recommend this directory: <site name>/web/content/images so that the URL should be: http://site-name.com/images/image-name.jpg

Alternatively, you could simply paste in the URL from the original source of the picture but be warned that if that site ever changes the URL or deletes the image or page, the picture will not be displayed on your site. It’s always a good idea to be in control of your own content, especially if its original content.

Adding Videos:

Adding videos to your pages is even easier than adding photos and can be done in three easy steps.

1. Visit the video sharing site that your video is uploading to and copy the url code.

2. click the ‘add media’ button on the Wordpress kitchen sink.

3. Click the add media icon on the Wordpress kitchen sink and paste the url. Change the dimensions if you like or leave them on their default values. Click Insert.

And that’s it! Be sure to enrich all your pages with relevant images and videos so they’re more pleasing to the eye.
